Like the sport of football, just moving the ball another 10 yards can seem impossible. We worry about our life being a big fumble, or we continue to get intercepted by others.
“I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened.”― Mark Twain
Most of our worries never actually happen. We can choose not to listen to our negative thoughts, and replace them with positive ideas.
The New Day is a game changer… but only when you use it.
Like football, life can challenge us to where moving the ball down the field is a struggle. We fumble the ball, miss an easy tackle, and get intercepted at every turn. But like a top athlete, how quickly you get back in the game, and play to the best of your ability is what’s important.
College Football Coach ‘Bear’ Bryant instilled in his player, Joe Namath and all of his players, how to brush themselves off after a loss. What he used is the NEW DAY Thought Process, that we have been teaching in every RITE class since 2015.
Inside the New Day poem are (7) powerful sentences that has the ability to change your life. Here they are broken down and defined in more detail:
1 – This is the beginning of a New Day
“Hello New Day!”
This is your first opportunity to make Today a good one from the start. Before you leave your home, erase the slate clean from yesterday. See today as a NEW DAY, and you have a good chance it will be a good day.
No matter what happened yesterday or last week, or last year, TODAY you have been given an opportunity to start again with that clean slate.
Leader Tip: If they complain about the past, say, “It’s a NEW DAY… let’s look forward.”
2 – God has given me this day to use as I will.
We were all given free will to think, and to be, and to do how we see things for ourselves. Some people say, “well I don’t have a choice, this is just how things are for me.”
Think again, and choose again. You can choose to think just a little more positive than a minute ago, or even yesterday.
Free Tip: Free will is free for everyone to use!
3 – I can waste it or use it for good.
Anyone can waste the day away and do nothing. It takes a bit of energy do good for others, which in turn does good for us.
You can continue wasting each day, or do something for good. Again, this starts with just thinking differently.
Words are power we all possess, and words have energy. Our words can either drive us and help motivate us, or keep us where we are.
Pro Tip: Professional athletes know how to win… Practice and Patience.
4 – What I do today is very important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it.
Most people want to control things that can’t be controlled. There’s only one thing we control, and that’s how we feel, and what we do Today.
Take on today with purpose as if tomorrow won’t be here. Be the best version of yourself today, because today is what matters.
Wake up: There is no guarantee we will be here tomorrow.
5 – When tomorrow comes this day will be gone forever, leaving something in its place I have traded for it.
People who say, “Someday”, are filling their days with unfulfilled potential and excuses. Stop waiting for the right time to do something, as it will never be the right time.
Take on today without the worry of tomorrow. Be the best version of yourself today, because today is what matters.
Just Do It: Do it today because tomorrow won’t wait.
6 – I want it to be a gain not loss… good not evil.
Even in the smallest of ways, look to make today a gain. Here are 3 simple ways to start making today a gain:
- Hold the door open for someone without expecting anything in return.
- Say, “thank you” to the grocery checkout person.
- Call that person you’ve been putting off calling, just to say, “hi”.
Do something today that’s just a little bit better than yesterday. This will add to your New Day ritual.
7 – Success not failure, in order that I shall not regret the price I paid for it.
Every little thing we do for others, can be seen a successful endeavor. Let one small success lead to another and another.
Success Tip: Just start…
Decide who you want to be and what you want to accomplish. Use today as your New Day and watch your life change!
